We have a healthy ego and a penchant for the bizarre. This is a city where perfect stangers will bond in grocery store lines by telling each other how great the city is then leave the store to go to their parked cars - one to a white sedan of Asian make, the other to a turquoise 1960 Beetle with a 3 foot long rubber chicken strapped to the roof with bailing twine.
